The first immersive drama complex in Asia with Dream of the Red Chamber as its theme—"Only Red Chamber·Drama Fantasy City," integrates 21 theaters, 108 scenario spaces, and various commercial formats within a 228-acre performing space, receiving over 10,000 visitors daily. In such a high-density, highly collaborative operating scenario, the communication system faces unprecedented challenges.
To meet the needs of multi-department scheduling, complex scene coverage, and stability, Caltta provides a communication solution centered on the ECS virtual cluster system, building a wireless intercom architecture of "public-private integration, broadband-narrowband complementarity" to fully support the project's daily operations and performance scheduling.
During actual operations, the Drama Fantasy City needs to simultaneously meet the efficient communication and collaboration needs of different departments, especially in the following three aspects:
High-frequency multi-department collaboration
Teams such as performance, security, operations, and visitor services work in parallel, requiring real-time voice scheduling and cross-group communication;
Complex space signal coverage
Theaters, squares, streets, and underground spaces are densely distributed, requiring non-blind spot coverage and high signal stability;
Challenges in a highly interfered environment
In environments with a large number of sound, light, and electrical equipment and stage facilities, traditional communication is easily interfered with, and stability requirements are extremely high.
As a result, Caltta provides a "public-private integration, broadband-narrowband complementarity" private network communication architecture. Utilizing the ECS virtual cluster system, a high-capacity, high-reliability, and flexibly scalable communication network is built for the park.
Caltta deploys multiple sets of ECS virtual cluster base stations in the core areas of the park, using TDMA dual-slot technology, where each 12.5kHz carrier can support two independent calls, significantly improving channel utilization. At the same time, through the layered coverage strategy combining "outdoor macro stations + indoor distributed systems," full signal coverage is achieved in key areas such as theaters, streets, and parking lots.
Additionally, the system is connected to the eChat public network scheduling platform, achieving interconnection with other communication systems, supporting cross-network scheduling, multimedia command, and emergency linkage, providing a strong guarantee for high-concurrency scheduling and emergency incident handling during performances.
Regarding terminal equipment, the project flexibly configures various specialized devices according to the needs of different positions:
Security personnel use e690 all-network-access smart terminals, supporting LTE voice, Bluetooth positioning, fall alarm, and other functions, effectively enhancing patrol and security response efficiency;
Logistics and performance teams are equipped with PH6 series digital walkie-talkies, featuring high-fidelity voice and explosion-proof capabilities, suitable for high-noise scenarios such as backstage, lighting control, and sound;
All terminal devices have IP68 protection and over 16-hour battery life, ensuring all-day high-intensity operation.
Through GIS map positioning and trajectory playback functions, the scheduling command center can grasp terminal distribution in real-time, achieving fast and accurate scheduling.
Since the system was put into operation, the park's communication connection rate has reached 100%, and scheduling response time has been shortened to seconds. Especially during the 2024 National Day, when the daily visitor volume exceeded 20,000, the system operated stably, fully ensuring the on-site safety and coordination command of high-risk scenarios, including the "You Huan Wu" theater water stage.
The application of the communication system has also promoted the park's digital operation transformation, reducing the use of paper work orders by 30%, lowering operation and maintenance costs by about one million yuan per year, and driving over a 40% increase in visitor traffic to park commercial, accommodation, and surrounding consumption sectors.
As a typical practice in the field of smart cultural tourism, the successful implementation of "Only Red Chamber·Drama Fantasy City" demonstrates the wide applicability and scalability of the ECS virtual cluster system in large-scale cultural performance scenarios:
· Flexible deployment: The system can be dynamically deployed according to the scene, reducing initial construction costs;
· Safe and reliable: With anti-interference, explosion-proof terminal capabilities, meeting high safety standards;
· Eco-friendly: Supports future integration capabilities like 5G and IoT, leaving ample space for smart cultural tourism upgrades.
Caltta will continue to empower scenario-based communication through technological innovation, providing a strong information security foundation for emerging business types such as cultural performances and cultural tourism integration, helping "culture + technology" reach a broader stage.
